Javi Cardenas is a Forward Deployed Engineer at Kognitiv Edge, where he bridges the gap between software development and field reliability. Working directly with clients, he tackles technical challenges on-site and ensures quality across implementations. Known for his user-first mindset, Javi designs software that adapts to people—not the other way around.
Javi began his career at IBM as a Data Engineer, where he developed Big Data pipelines supporting AI models that analyze IBM Cloud customer interactions.
He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering with Honors and a minor in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at UIUC, he participated in Google’s Applied Machine Learning Intensive, gaining hands-on experience with neural networks and large language models—an experience that inspired his shift to software engineering. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science at UIUC.
Outside of work, Javi enjoys sports, time with family and friends, and building personal tech projects—including his own custom PC.
